report by drb

The Jesters made their 1st ever visit to Arthington with a mix of players representing 7 different Saturday league teams, all happy to be extending the season by 1 more week.at least the bog rolls have arrived

After heavy rain the previous day the pitch was unsurprisingly wet so it was a surprise when the home skipper won the toss & confidently elected to bat. (perhaps the reason was only half his team had arrived at the ground).

Green Lane left arm seamer Neil Britton, making a belated debut found conditions very much to his liking & fired out the 1st 3 batsmen, all caught in the slip cordon.

Providing contrast at the other end was Rawdon spinner Neil Waite who also proved effective as after 12 overs the Arthington innings was in tatters at 7 for 6.

The Jesters were unusually on fire in the field as all 10 wickets fell to catches with no chance missed.

Scottie found himself bowling to his former teacher M.Binks & dismissing him. A case of the pupil teaching the master!

a brief inningsThe final total of 23 was not the stiffest of targets but proved enough for Matt McCallum who fell to to wily skipper Dennis Nash.

It was nice to see club president Eric at consecutive Jester games with Carl declaring that is dad is looking more like him every day!

With the early finish it was decided to take tea & then have another Twenty/20 game. For details see seperate report.
