Would the Jesters 13th Blackpool tour prove to be unlucky? As we drove through the rain it looked like it might be, but as it turned out this was one of the best tours ever, no games lost to the weather and everyone well involved thanks to skipper and tour leader Andy Rhodes. This year we were bedecked in bright orange shirts that matched nothing but Teds socks and Johns' eyes in the morning. On a large ground at Stanley Park the Jesters were invited to bat in a 30 over game and thanks to their skipper keeping a slip cordon of at least three there were a lot of open spaces to be exploited. The short boundary was well peppered by Ed, Rick and Ted. One shot by Ed landed in the kindergarten with thankfully no injuries. The little people had an early reading of the hungry caterpillar and play was resumed. Dennis and Belly made good contributions with Belly telling anyone who would listen that he was rejuvenated by using Andy's bat. Two hundred and ninety one appeared to be an unassailable score. Blackpool however made a great effort to reach that total only to fall just short in the final over. A great winning start to the tour. The fleshpots of Blackpool then beckoned and what happened next is not to be revealed because as everyone knows what happens on tour stays on tour.
