REPORT BY DRB

The Jesters convened for the 1st time in 2013 for the Blackpool tour game at old friends St Annes. New tour captain Dale introduced all the (Jesters) players to each other & handed out individualised tour shirts. He then negociated to bat 1st on a hot & humid day. The opening batting pair proved to be a failure with both Mel & his youngest, Jake looking like they had never held a bat before!    The Otley trio of messers Rhodes, Brough & Halloran took the score to almost respectable levels with some lusty hitting; Rhodsey even hitting a couple of fours on the off-side!

With an older than usual team this year the fielding in the 2nd half was best described as"pushing average" with runs thrown away like confetti. When combined with a lack of wicket taking the home team eased to a comfortable victory.

Club captain & tour nobody Dave Bells 1st involvement all day (other than scoring) was when the batsmen ran 5 to him late in the run chase. Up to then the new skipper had hidden him well! (I now know why Scottie retired on 299 games!)
