report by COCO
The Jesters left Yorkshire in pouring rain for their annual
missionary trip to Lancashire, thinking they would play
very little cricket if
the weather forecasts were to be believed. As it turned out the weather
improved, there was blue sky over the tower and three matches were played. Under
new management in the person of Andy Rhodes this was the start of a new era,
though there were old hands pulling strings in the background. Mel denied ever
meeting Jake Agar before, but was then introduced to four debutants Jake Toulson,
a graduate of Rawdon C.E. academy of sporting excellence, Jack De'ath with his
apostrophe, Sam Blake, an exhibit on loan from Australia and William " Whizz"
Spivey, son of ace marksman Pete Spivey. Also returning was Ed " the window
destroyer" Brown, also like Coco an ex Olicanians player (that's all they have
in common - ed )
Well done to Dennis for finding the Ibis hotel, clean rooms ( to start with )
,as much espresso coffee as Ricky could drink, sea views and reasonably priced.
Parking was a problem but it was near to the bars of Blackpool that were well
explored , and just opposite the pier, ideal for an aimless wander. It was on
the pier that Dave told me that if it was raining on Wednesday we could go watch
the Lancashire game, this is why we need new management.
The details of the first game against Lytham St. Anne's can be found above,
what needs to be said is that players of both sides enjoyed a good game with all
players well involved, something that the new skipper made sure happened all
week.
